Developing Proposals for the 2011 NEC

The development of the National Electrical Code is one of our most important things the IAEI can do. The NEC is developed by Proposals and Comments sent to NFPA to change the code. NFPA delays its publication in order to obtain the vital input our organization provides from its Section Meetings. The IAEI is requesting each Chapter to submit at least ten Chapter endorsed Proposals to the Section Meetings for the Section endorsement. Then the IAEI Board will submit IAEI Proposals to NFPA for the 2011 Code Cycle.

The IAEI is a major part of the outcome of the National  Electrical Code. The IAEI membership is instrumental in submitting proposals for making the code a better document. IAEI has two representatives on every code making panel. The code panel members provide a valuable asset to the electrical industry and their dedication is appreciated.
