Guest Program

The Spouse/Guest program will feature a motor coach excursion through the wooded bluffs of the St. Croix River Valley back in time to Victorian homes, quaint shops, great antiques, the grand Lowell Inn, and delicious café’s filled with antiques, baked goods, stylish clothing, and other treasures.  You will have your choice of:
  1. A 2 hour riverboat luncheon cruise where you can enjoy the fall colors and beauty of the river.
  2. Board the Stillwater Trolley for a 45 minute historic tour of multicolored Victorian Homes, the historic courthouse and other sites that time has forgotten.
  3. Have lunch in one of the historic dining rooms or just dessert and coffee on the veranda of turn of the century Lowell Inn.  This historic tour of the hotel is fascinating.
  4. Wander among the shops and museums along the waterfront

Whatever you choose, you are assured of a day filled with charm, relaxation and enjoyment on the beautiful St. Croix.

 
MONDAY EVENING ENTERTAINMENT

Monday evening is on your own. However, the Minnesota Chapter is offering a trip to the Mystic Lake Casino. Buses will pick up at the Sheraton Hotel and travel to the casino where food, entertainment and gambling are available. There is no cost for the casino trip.

We have been informed that the Hotel had cancelled their shuttle service. This is true, but they will be providing both airport and Mall of America shuttle service for our attendees due to a prior agreement.

There is a lot of information in the Training Manual that needs to be addressed at this training session. Make sure your Chapter or Division has the Secretary and Treasurer attending this important training. Those people interested in becoming a secretary should also attend this FREE training session.
 
 


Western Section 105th Annual Meeting

Bloomington, Minnesota
September 20-23, 2009

The Minnesota Chapter and the Western Section invite you to attend the 105th Western Section Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota, a suburb of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St Paul and home of the Mall of America.
 
This meeting will feature the following educational seminars:

  • Significant Proposals for the 2011 NEC
  • NEC Code Panel
  • Motor Wiring For Dummies
  • Aging Wiring Systems in Structures.
  • Many Other Code Related Presentations.

 

The meeting will feature the lively NEC Code Panel with answers from industry experts and the always popular Charlie Trout Code Breakfast, where breakfast table competes against breakfast table answering a set number of Code questions specially selected by Mr. Trout.

16 CEU credits will be awarded for the entire technical program.  

Guests will be pleased to know that the Sheraton offers regular shuttle busses to the Mall of America just ten minutes from the hotel. The Mall is open from 10:00 am to 9:30 pm Monday through Saturday and until 7:00 pm on Sunday. 

On Tuesday, guests will be treated to a day in the beautiful St. Croix Valley in the charming city of Stillwater. Unique shops, galleries and fine restaurants dot the historic downtown with parks along the bluff offering dramatic views of the river.  The tour is scheduled to leave at 9:00 Tuesday morning and will include lunch, returning to the hotel at 5:00 pm.

Monday evening is on your own. However, the Twin Cities is home to plenty of activities including Treasure Island and Mystic Lake Casinos, Canterbury Park Racetrack and Card Club, Como Park Conservatory, The Minnesota Zoo, Historic Fort Snelling, hundreds of miles of walking and biking trails around dozens of lakes as well as nationally renown theatres, galleries and restaurants.

TRAIN THE TRAINER Special Training
Friday and Saturday, September 18 & 19, Train The Trainer. This class taught by professionals from the IAEI International Office will teach you to be a more competent instructor. The fee is $250.00 which is a substantial savings over attending the same class in Richardson. The Sheraton Hotel will honor the special room rate set for the conference. Sign up early, to reserve your seat at the training session.

Wednesday, September 23, at 12:30, immediately following the closing of the Annual Meeting, ACES will have a meeting in the same room. The American Council for Electrical Safety (ACES) is an independent group whose members are limited to Regulators, Certifiers and those parties that are associated with the same.  Members include all NRTLs, Government Regulators such as OSHA, CPSC, NIST and NFPA and Chief Electrical Inspectors.  They discuss issues relating to the approval and certification of electrical products. This meeting will be 3 to 4 hours long and will give those attending an insight into electrical safety and the influence of NRTLS, Regulators, Certifiers, etc. Many issues relating to approval and certification of electrical products in the US and Canada will be covered in this session.
